Hyperledger: supporting open collaboration on blockchain

Hyperledger is an open-source collaborative project designed to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies. It is a global community, hosted by The Linux Foundation, and includes leaders in finance, banking, internet of things, supply chain, manufacturing and technology. Hyperledger has more than 120 contributors working together to build blockchain frameworks and platforms. Hyperledger and its members are currently defining use cases and pursuing various proofs of concept in this area. Deutsche Börse is a premier member of the Hyperledger project.
Project
In the financial services sector, blockchain has been the talk of the town for quite a while now. The distributed ledger technology, which records transactions on a decentralised peer-to-peer basis, has potential applications in many fields, from finance and banking to manufacturing and healthcare. It has the potential to drive down costs and reduce complexity. However, harnessing blockchain’s full power and readying it for mainstream adaptation is an extremely complex task and a challenge for software developers – a challenge which requires open collaboration. In a financial services context, blockchain’s potential benefits are many and include streamlined settlement, improved liquidity, supply chain optimisation, increased transparency and the unlocking of new products and markets.
