Proud to be part of #OneGlobalTeam

Release date: Apr 09, 2026

At Deutsche Börse Group, the traditional view of finance is being redefined. As the engineers of the capital markets, we build and maintain the infrastructure that underpins the global financial systems. This identity reflects a profound shift towards leveraging technology, data, and broad expertise to ensure stability, efficiency, and innovation. Hear from some of our colleagues what it means to be an engineer of the capital markets.

What makes you an engineer of the capital markets?

Being an engineer of the capital markets means actively shaping, securing, and innovating the infrastructure that powers global financial systems. At Deutsche Börse Group, this role transcends traditional job titles. It embodies a mindset of building, optimizing, and safeguarding the mechanisms that enable capital markets to function efficiently and securely.

Benedikt, who started his journey as a trainee in Frankfurt, is a Treasury Front Office professional based in Luxembourg. His tasks include managing €20-25 billion in cash positions daily, optimizing net interest income, executing FX transactions, repos, and government bond investments. This hands-on engagement with financial instruments and liquidity flows is akin to engineering the financial backbone of the Group.

Through his work at the Treasury Front Office, Benedikt “operates within and navigates through financial markets on a daily basis.” This, so he says, “makes us engineers of financial markets.”

Jeremy Molinaro, Information Security Specialist

Jeremy, working in Luxembourg in IT security, describes his role as defending the Group’s assets against cyber threats. He builds strategies from scratch, monitors vulnerabilities, and ensures the Group stays at the cutting edge of cybersecurity. He sees himself as a capital market engineer “because we are controlling what is happening on the market by securing our environment, which is really important for us. Further, when I think about the word engineer, I think about building something from scratch. For instance, we had to build our strategy from scratch. And this is why, I would say from an engineer’s point of view, you need to build your strategy first, then, look at the market, what is available to secure, and achieve your strategy.”

Adam is based in Prague and works as a Functional Analyst in the Reference Data section of Deutsche Börse Group. His role bridges business and IT, ensuring that financial instruments and market data are accurately maintained and enhanced across the group’s systems.

He compares his role to an automotive engineer, explaining that while a casual observer might only notice the car’s exterior design, the engineer is focused on the complex machinery within. Their job is to ensure the engine is running perfectly so the car can function as intended.

His role is to provide and maintain the essential infrastructure that allows every transaction to happen securely and efficiently. “We make sure things run properly, and that we enhance and update the systems. Building the future of capital markets means that we not only maintain the current systems but also look for trends on how the world and markets are evolving, making sure that we are ready to provide the latest infrastructure.”

How does working in a global team influence your approach to engineering solutions?

Working in a global team profoundly shapes how engineering solutions is approached – by fostering openness, adaptability, and innovation by intertwining perspectives, cultures, and experiences.

For Benedikt, the global scope of the Deutsche Börse Group was one of the first positive surprises in his new role. “When I arrived in Frankfurt, I wasn’t aware of how international the Group is. Luxembourg by default is very international, but so is Frankfurt. Many of my colleagues have different backgrounds.” When it comes to engineering solutions, Benedikt says that “you can see that everyone is having a different approach. And that’s due to everyone’s diverse background.”

Nataliia, originally from Ukraine, highlights how she thrives in cultural diversity. Her team spans Luxembourg, Prague, Germany, and Hyderabad. She believes that this brings essential energy, creativity, and empathy to her work of building secure, innovative systems. She actively fosters this cross-cultural connection through team events and shared traditions, creating an environment where, as she puts it, “we can speak a diverse myriad of languages, we can share different types of food, and most importantly, we can learn from each other.”

John is a Director and Head of Section for Global Funds Operations at Clearstream in Cork. He points out that the geographic distribution of various teams is a strategic advantage. It provides the “opportunity to work with colleagues in different locations to ultimately achieve the aims of the company.” He mentions interacting with teams in Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Prague, Singapore, Australia, Zurich, and London to achieve business objectives, highlighting that cross-location collaboration is fundamental to their operational success.

What excites you most about engineering the future of capital markets?

Aryuna Zhigzhitova, Key Account Manager

Being a part of innovating the capital ecosystem excites employees across Deutsche Börse Group because it offers a unique blend of impact, innovation, and global relevance.

The direct impact on global markets is pointed out by Benedikt as the most exciting factor: “You come to the office in the morning, you leave at the end of the day, and you see the impact you had and the contribution you gave to the Group’s financial targets.”

Aryuna, a trading account manager from China now working in Prague, emphasizes the importance of global connectivity and market awareness in her role. Her position provides a unique, real-time perspective, connecting her to markets across Asia, Europe, and the US. She thrives on getting “to know about the news and trends first.” This constant flow of information is what makes her feel excited to be “at the heart of the financial markets and IT infrastructure.”

Adam, who introduced the automotive engineer analogy, is excited by the pace of technological change and innovation in the capital markets. He views his work as a space in which learning never stops and adds that “it’s really exciting to work on the many projects, especially in this era when we are migrating from the legacy technologies and legacy systems to a new way of doing things.”

How do you see your role evolving in the future?

Across our locations and teams, there is a vision for growth – both individually and collectively. Whether stepping into a leadership role, deepening technical expertise, or expanding cross-functional collaboration, our employees see their roles evolving in ways that allow them to shape the future of financial markets.

Wesley, originally from Brazil, works in project management on the Service and Quality Improvement team in Cork. He sees his future in a leadership role where he “wants to create a leadership position where he can support other people to grow with themselves, professionally and personally.”

Lisa König, Head of Clearstream Fund Services Strategy & Marketing

Having moved from finance to IT security, Nataliia thinks that her area of interest is related to innovation and technology. “This is where I see myself developing my career. And I have so much to look forward to regarding new technologies, promotions and implementations, within our day-to-day job. So, I definitely see myself within the digital world.”

Jeremy not only wants to become a senior technical expert in cybersecurity but also “would like to become a representative of a unit” and thus become a role model for his team.

Lisa, based in Frankfurt, heads the Business Strategy as well as marketing and events for Clearstream’s fund services business segment. For her, “the way forward is really about becoming a good leader and helping to support the team growing.”
