Stephan Leithner commented on this as follows:

“Brussels is the political heart of Europe, where our heart beats, too! It was exciting to meet so many guests from key EU institutions, stakeholder groups and also clients in a very animated evening.

As Deutsche Börse Group, we are proudly European, with 30 locations and 10,000 colleagues across Europe – 6,000 of them outside Germany. We are the European Champion in capital markets infrastructure, with our fully integrated business model along the entire value chain: indices, market data, software, trading, clearing, settlement, fund services, collateral and liquidity management, and IT solutions.

Just some examples of our many European success stories:

  • In terms of volumes & listings for ETFs in Europe, with a truly single liquidity pool – our XETRA is the leading exchange, playing a crucial role for mobilizing private capital.
  • Our Eurex is Europe's leading derivatives exchange and home of the Euro yield curve.
  • Our EEX is Europe's leading energy exchange, Paris-based EPEX SPOT is Europe's leading electricity exchange.
  • And our Clearstream is Europe's leading Central Securities Depository.

We are deeply committed to strengthening European autonomy and competitiveness in the current challenging time. For this, Europe must work together.

On the European level, we urgently need to:

  • Activate savings from nonproductive products like savings accounts to support both pensions savings and the funding of innovation and growth companies.
  • Reduce fragmentation and pan European as well as national regulatory gold plating.
  • Redirect capital flows to lit markets for increased transparency.
  • Improve the IPO ecosystem.
  • Drive EU digital thought leadership especially in light of the global acceleration.

Let’s keep engineering strong capital markets for a strong Europe – together!”
