Inclusion through language – we are adapting our corporate wording

Release date: Jul 01, 2021

Gender

As a company with more than 9,000 people from all over the world working together every day, we all carry a clear responsibility: diversity and inclusion are the basis of our corporate culture which is characterised by open dialogue, trust and mutual acceptance. These values should also be reflected in our corporate communication.

Based on this motivation, we have decided to use gender-sensitive and gender-neutral language in all official written internal and external communication as of today, 1 July 2021. These newly created guidelines will be updated regularly and can be adapted to new language developments at any time in the future.

Gender-sensitive language alone does not create equal opportunities – we are aware of that. Over the last year, with the help and input of many of our colleagues around the world, we have successfully taken important steps to promote diversity and inclusion in our working environment. We published our new official Diversity & Inclusion Statement and established a Council whose members represent the diversity in our company, and which will provide the framework for Deutsche Börse Group's Diversity & Inclusion programme in the future.

The introduction of guidelines on gender-sensitive and gender-neutral language will help to create awareness for mutual acceptance and appreciation. Many more steps will follow to bring us even closer to our goal of a working world in which all colleagues feel welcome, valued, and respected.
