Deutsche Börse opens special exhibition “Look at Me”

Release date: Jun 27, 2013

Exhibition with some 100 works from the Art Collection Deutsche Börse/ Presentation from 28 June to 31 August at company headquarters in Eschborn

Deutsche Börse opens the new exhibition “Look at Me” tonight. The company will be exhibiting works from its extensive collection to the general public until the end of August. The exhibition includes around 100 photographs from 14 years of the collection, under the themes of portrait and identity. The works by 17 international artists, some of which are in large format, tell an exciting and diverse story through photographic portraits. “Look at Me” visualises the diversity of conscious and unconscious self-staging of the modern individual in dialogue between photographer and observer.

The exhibition, which focuses on human portraits, presents pictures of historical interest and artistically performative works. Individual and group portraits are the focus of the concept and show a subjective cross-section of identities and self-perceptions through different cultures, periods and ethnicities.

The exhibition presents works by Rineke Dijkstra, Slawomir Elsner, Angela Fensch, Alberto Garcia-Alix, Göran Gnaudschun, Evelyn Hofer, Pieter Hugo, Seydou Keita, Nicholas Nixon, Bettina Rheims, Thomas Ruff, Joseph Szabo, Malick Sidibé, Alec Soth, Beat Streuli, Thomas Struth and Tobias Zielony.

It is open for viewing as part of a tour based on prior reservation. The tours start at 6 p.m. at the company’s headquarters, The Cube, in Eschborn, located at Mergenthalerallee 61. Reserve a place on a tour by e-mailing art@deutsche-boerse.com. The next three tours take place tomorrow, 28 June, next Thursday, 4 July and on Wednesday, 17 July.

Four photographic books on the Art Collection Deutsche Börse have been published since the year 2000 by the Hatje/Cantz publishing house. The volumes are titled “XL Photography” and are available from bookshops.
