Release date: Nov 14, 2008

Deutsche Börse Group along with project developers Groß & Partner, and Lang & Cie had its groundbreaking today for the announced construction of the Group’s new main office building in Mergenthalerallee in Eschborn. Guests at the formal ceremony included the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG, Minister President of the state of Hesse Roland Koch and mayor of the city of Eschborn Wilhelm Speckhardt.

Reto Francioni, CEO of Deutsche Börse AG, said “The planned building corresponds with our corporate culture, which is based on the values integrity, precision, reliability, and innovative strength, as well as a focus on customers and investors. The new building underpins our commitment to the region, because even in the age of virtual exchange trading, this regional identification is important to us.” He thanked the state of Hesse as well as the city of Eschborn, which have proven to be constructive partners.

Roland Koch, Minister President of the state of Hesse, said: “The financial center Frankfurt has every reason to be proud of its strengths – particularly its interlinking networks and its compactness. Today changes nothing about this. This location retains Deutsche Börse – one of the largest exchange organizations of the world – as a core asset and reference.” Koch commented that the new headquarter in Eschborn is an excellent example of a building designed to meet all future requirements. It combines an appealing visual appearance with excellent building and information technology, and with its energy and cost efficiency also sets an ecological benchmark.

Construction of the new main office building of Deutsche Börse Group is to be completed by summer 2010. The renowned architects KSP Engel & Zimmermann designed the building, which, with total floor space of over 50,000 m² on a total of 21 floors, will house more than 2,000 employees. All rooms will be equipped with state-of-the art technology and be air-conditioned; the staff canteen is designed to seat 600 people. The building is to include an in-house employee fitness center with a parking garage on the premise and two underground parking decks with more than 800 spaces.

The topping-out ceremony is to be held in fall 2009.
